This blog is a place for Lord of Life members, friends, and family to check out what's happening as we reach beyond our walls to serve the world around us, whether that be right here in our own backyard or halfway around the world. We'll post real stories of life change along the way so we hope you'll stay tuned in and get inspired to go out and serve the world around you as well.

Nicaragua Wednesday Was Most Excellent
We love reading everyone's comments on the blog. Kids are enjoying messages from their parents so keep 'em coming!
Today was a great day! Our students were much more comfortable with the children and therefore had an absolute blast with them. We told the story of Saul's conversion today in VBS. We also made t-shirt bags with 50 of the 150 kids who showed up. We were so excited to see more kids but then realized we didn't have enough craft supplies for everyone. We had a plan worked out for families to share a bag, but the pastor and deaconess wanted the kids who are students at the school to get a bag of their own. It actually tyrned out really well. The kids who didn't get to make a bag were very excited to go to the open field with our students to play with all the sports equipment.
The other good news was that we were able to finish all of the painting with time to spare. When we left the work site yesterdAy we asked the pastor which was the higher priority--the inside or the outside of the building. Thankfully, everyone worked really hard. Before we left Crist Rey we gathered in front of the newly painted church/school and offered a prayer of blessing on that place. Please join us in praying for the fine people of Cristo Rey.
Tomorrow we are leaving at 7:00am to make the long 2-hour journey to Potosi!
Our evenings are being spent hanging out playing cards. Tonight we started a Spades Tornament! The competition and smack talk are heating up!
More later!
Lisa :)

To Mommy, Aunt Lisa, Caleb, and Sarah, "Why are the lights on?" (We don't know what that means, and neither does she. She is being funny, and she is blowing bubbles in her milk.)

We made our own snow cone syrup last night and are pretty excited that it turned out. Today the girls will go swimming at SMDA and then they have tumbling tonight. Have a great day! I can't wait to hear what God does today. -Chris
We have corrections! :) It's Minecraft. And it was Isabella who said why are the lights on. lol
ReplyDeleteLove these updates! Praying for overflowing hearts of love and service. Collin - now that you've got your painting skills down you can paint the outside of our house when you get back. Love and miss you both. P.S. Kristin's too tired from camp to wrestle with me - thank goodness. She misses her boys! Patti
ReplyDeleteHowdy Ethan!
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy you are getting to see another part of the world. Remember that you are in a very fortunate minority, and most of the world is living a much different lifestyle. Be sure to take in the smiles and overall joy of people. Clearly, there is not a one to one correlation between God's joy and accumulating stuff. I look forward to you applying that knowledge with others when you get back. I'm also glad that you are learning spades. I look forward to schooling you when you get home!
Love, Dad
Hey Nicole!

ReplyDeleteTo our LOL Nicaragua missionaries......it is so great to hear all the wonderful things you are doing for the children there. I am sure you will touch many lives this week with your love of Jesus.
ReplyDeleteAlex, Lucy misses you along with the rest of us. We think about you everyday along with the rest of the team. I got your sweet phone message Monday am. Gpa thought the phone ringing at 3:25 am was my phone alarm. Andrew and I are sleeping at your house tonight so Lucy won't have to be alone.
God bless you all. Gma Mary Jo Johnston
